When Life Hits The Pause Button
Have you noticed how, when we're preparing to go somewhere, we find ourselves taking all the effort to be in time for the cab, bus, train, plane etc, so we can get to where we're going. But all the rush lasts only until we get into the mode of transportation that takes us to our destination. Then we settle down for the ride, satisfied that we made it in time. Notice, how though we haven't reached our destination yet, we settle down and take it easy, enjoying the journey to our destination, knowing that there's nothing more we can do to hasten our getting to where we're going - it all lies with the driver or pilot to get us there.
When I ponder on this, I realise that the same is true in life in general too. There are certain stages in our lives, when we're in a rush to accomplish things in life, meet goals etc. and then, suddenly (or graduallly), things can change. For any of the following reasons (illness, old age, sudden tragedy, loss of a loved one, losing a job, natural disaster etc), we may find ourselves having to take a pause from the race we're on, and resign ourselves to the fact that life's pace needs to change, going forward. Notice, we may not have reached our destination yet, but still the rush is either on pause or the pace has changed. There's still a distance to go and in time we'll get there, but we're no longer in a rush anymore. There's no point in stressing ourselves out to hasten our journey - it's not in our hands anyway. We just need to take life at a different pace and relax for the rest of the journey.
It's during these 'pause' moments that we need to introspect and take stock of our life's pace and more so, life's purpose. We need to ask ourselves what we're really trying to achieve in life. At the end of the race, we wouldn't want to find that we had run in vain, or that there was no one else really competing with us, or that the finish line had nothing to offer after all. What a tragedy that would be indeed and a realisation a bit too late.
Life is not about us getting ahead of the rest, possessing the most and best, making a name for ourselves, holding sway over others, having pleasure to the max, or any other self-indulgent endeavour. Rather, it's about fulfilling one's purpose for being born into this world. To love God and to love one another is all we're called to do in life. Nothing gives greater satisfaction and fulfilment in life than this. Until we discover this truth we will continue on in this mad rush to get nowhere, and all to no avail.
When we ponder life's path in the pause, we prepare ourselves for the next phase of the journey. But if we fail to ponder during the pause, we run the risk of missing out the purpose behind the pause and we continue on in our journey having learnt nothing new in the process.
When we ponder life's path in the pause, we prepare ourselves for the next phase of the journey. But if we fail to ponder during the pause, we run the risk of missing out the purpose behind the pause and we continue on in our journey having learnt nothing new in the process.
If you haven't already discovered your life's purpose, and would like to do so, there's only One Person who can help you discover it, and He's the One who created you. He knows why and He also knows how to help you begin and complete that process of fulfilling your life's purpose to the full. And He has made the way possible - it's through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. If you've never known God personally, there's no better time than now.

Very true, the pause will make us realize our flaws. We are not by our own, we need our saviour in order to sail through all ups and downs in our life. It's always on us how much dependency we build to make our realtionship strong with God and to discover the true essence of our life.
ReplyDeleteIt's so true. Many a time we run without knowing reason .we run because others are running. And the finishing point has nothing much to share. It is only God realisation that shows us the purpose of our run. He created us and to him we should return crossing this ocean of existence. Wonderful message.
DeleteThanks so much for your comment. Appreciate the time taken to respond and I agree with you completely.
DeleteCould anybody be given a better understanding than this about the time of pause we need in our lives? Thankyou for this insight about knowing the purpose of our lives.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Glory

ReplyDeleteMike, its a great reminder that its not the end but just a bend. We are all so overwhelmed by the present situation and we are grateful for the reminder that its just a "pause". God bless you.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Ji
DeleteThere are three things you got to know 1.From where you came. 2.what are you doing now. 3.where are you going. The Holy Bible has the answers to these questions. Answer 1.If you came from GOD you will return to GOD bible says every thing is Pre destination by GOD Rev : 13
ReplyDeleteAll those names that are not written in THE LAMB'S BOOK OF LIFE will worship the dragon that is why the JESUS SAID THE SON OF MAN CAME INTO THE WORLD TO SEEK AND SAVE THAT WHICH WAS LOST so we were saved at CALVARY WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS CHRIST JESUS DIED FOR US THE BIBLE SAYS
There are many scriptures to show that THE LORD HAS PRE PLANNED EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW HE IS IN HIS WORK OF REDEEMING WE DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE LAST SOUL WILL COME IN WE ARE NEARING THE END OF THE GENTILE DESPENSATION. IT IS LATER THAN WE THINK IT IS. 2.RIGHT NOW WHAT WE SHOULD DO IS TO SEEK HIS PLAN AND BE A PART OF THAT PLAN YOU MUST KNOW YOUR DAY AND IT'S MESSAGE FOR THIS.THERE IS A SPECIFIC PORTION OF SCRIPTURES TO BE FULFILLED BY HIS CHILDREN OF THIS AGE THAT IS WHY WE ARE SENT TO FULLFILL.JESUS ON THAT DAY IN THE TEMPLE READ A PORTION FROM ISIAH AND SAID THIS DAY THIS SCRIPTURE IS FULL FILLED BEFORE YOU...THE OTHER PORTIONS WERE NOT HIS PART SO WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN PART TO FULLFILL NOT ACCORDING TO OUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. THE WORD OF GOD SAYS LEAN NOT UNTO YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING.YOU MUST KNOW YOUR DAY AND IT'S MESSAGE ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF GOD AND BE FOUND DOING EXACTLY THAT WHEN THE SON OF MAN COMES NOT IN OUR OWN PROGRAMME. YOU SEE PAUL WHO WAS CALLED SAUL WAS SINCERELY SERVING JEHOVAH HE WAS AGAINST THE VERY SAME GOD THAT HE THOUGHT THAT HE WAS SERVING JESUS MET HIM ON THE WAY TO DEMASCUS TO SHOW HIM THAT HE WAS SINCERELY WRONG. PAUL WAS THEN COMPREHENDED TO DO HIS PART IN THE WORD OF GOD HE WROTE THE MISTRESS OF GOD TO BE REVEALED IN THE LAST DAYS. JESUS SAID IN LUKE :17 LIKE IN THE DAYS OF SODOM AND GOMARRAH SO WILL IT BE IN THE DAYS WHEN THE SON OF MAN IS REVEALED AND LIKE IN THE DAYS OF NOAH SO WILL IT BE IN THE DAYS WHEN THE SON OF MAN IS REVEALED. WE ARE RIGHT NOW IN THOSE DAYS "A SON OF MAN (A PROPHET)REVEALING THE SON OF MAN (JESUS).IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW WHERE THE SON OF MAN(JESUS) IS REVEALED TODAY AND BE APART OF THAT PROGRAMME FOR TODAY LOTS TO IT I LEAVE IT HERE
3.IF WE CAME FROM GOD WE ARE GOING BACK TO GOD AFTER HE FINISHES WITH HIS PROGRAMME FOR US HERE. PRAYERFULLY READ DANIEL THE 12TH CHAPTER MALACHI THE 13TH CHAPTER AND REVELATIONS THE 10TH CHAPTER A FEW OF THE IMPORTANT SCRIPTURES THAT HE IS AND HAS FULLFILLED IN OUR DAY. HE IS ALWAYS A PRESENTANCE GOD HE IS "I AM THAT I AM "THE SAME YESTERDAY TODAY AND FOR EVER. HE IS ARE WARDER OF THEM THAT DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM GET ON YOUR KNEES AND HE WILL ANSWER A SINCERE PRAYER AMEN
